Can you really make good money with theses affiliate websites on sale, preinstalled with links and products?

i disagree, there is a lot to be made on affiliate sites. there are tons of tools now that allow you to do more than just banners. (banners still work, just more work) i.e. storefronts, datafeeds, dynamic content, etc

Rather than buy a site that is prepopulated with affiliate links, think of things that are of interest to you and build a site based on that interest. Then depending on the theme of the content, determine who would most likely be interested in reading this content. For example, maybe you'll write about Hiking. You audience would probably be adults 25-60 who are in good health and are adventurous. You could then become an affiliate for sites that sell hiking equipment, clothing, and even products that are targeted to that age group such as Life Insurance, Health Insurance, etc. Once you have your site built, it's very easy to use affiliate links. Plus if you have your own unique content, the search engines will like your site more and you'll get more traffic.
