Affiliate markete with a tax question.
I am an affiliate marketer selling down loadable products
By the end of the year between selling Site Build It and adsense ads I will have made $$1000.00. At the point I really do not have time to put much more into my site development so it is just extra income. Because my income is so low do I have to pay tax. It might be better to put it this way what is maximum sales before reported to the IRS. I have been to the IRS site and could not find anything on commissions for afflatus marketing and defendant nothing on making money from tax in regard to wart to do about on products made in Canada. The bottom like in all this is I really need to know the maximum sales before reported to the IRS. After all my concerns may not even be needed..

If you make money you pay the tax. The kid who mows my lawn reports his income and pays income tax. Why would you think that you are exempt?
Every affiliate program that I am a member of reports my income to the government on a 1099.

Hello Always. You Always have to pay taxes. If you make $0.01 or more, you need to pay taxes. Don't give the IRS any reason to look into any of your larger income generators. Save the headache.

Affiliates and Tax
Quote:
I don't agree. Use your computer, your office space, your internet, your magazine subscriptions, your desk, your chair, etc for tax write offs and reduce your tax liability. Say you made 40,000 doing your normal salary job. But say you had 10,000 deductions from your internet job because of what it costs you to do it, in reality you are only taxed on 30,000 (+ self employment tax). But seeing as how this is a SEO forum, and none of us are accountants, your best bet is to hire one and get professional advice on how to make so you actually make money instead of paying self employment tax. One thing though, is that if you make less than a certain amount ($600 I believe), they won't report you on a 1099. So if you had several sources, it's possible that the IRS won't know, unless you tell them. Regardless, get professional advice, and I'm not recommending that you knowing keep any of the money you earned, I meant to say, knowingly "cheat" the IRS out of your taxes. Just my 2 cents |
