I dont think affiliate program in itself will help pagerank. If you get too many good affiliates, you will get more traffic and sales, but since the link code with be embedded with aff tracking etc, it wont even mean links. So NO, it wont help.

Actually there are some options so that your affiliate links run directly through your site so can help to build PR.

My Affiliate Program from Kowabunga: http://info.myap.com has an option you can add that runs the links directly to the merchant URL instead of through their server, so helps with link pop.

One of the BIG benefits to MYAP also is that once you have their software you can be added to their new network - www.kolimbo.com and their directory www.affiliatecash.com at no additional charge.

MyAp is also trusted by affiliates and the best software out there IMHO.
