Adsense - Publisher Percentage?
ok - i know there have been many discussions on the percentage that publishers get paid per click. i've heard that the ballpark figure is publishers 60% , google 40% ...
i think i might have found some evidence to prove this theory. (please don't poop on my party if this is old news) 1. the minimum amount of money you can pay adwords per click is 5cents 2. i just received 1 click on a site and was paid 3cents 3. 3/5 = 60% [obviously this is assuming that this particular adwords user paid 5cents for that click] ps. this is my #1 money making site incase you were wondering

I don't think that is a true statement toddieg.
Despite the 5 cents minimum I keep reading in other forums that a lot of publishers earn one or two pennies for a click. I also do belive that the whole thing is done through some kind of random number generator so that no one will ever figure it out! I don't have proof positive for the above assertion which is based on my observation. The reason I am fairly sure of my observation is the fact that I am a small time publisher (for now) so tracking is simple. I have AdSence on only a few highly optimized pages and by the displayed ads I can tell that my optimization has been successful and yet the variation in my earnings per click is huge. And I mean huge, one click can be worth 8 or nine times as much as an other... raz

It may be my paranoia but I actually think the % is a moving scale based on publisher trust over time and other factors that affect the % during the month.
It all comes back to the Google astrological planning process figure one out and you'll also know when the next algo change or back link update is, the sad part is you'll probably be barking at the moon at that point and living in a nice home with soft walls. ![]() |

My guess is closer to 20% based on some estimations I've done....I also guess that the % goes up for "quality", particularly if the advertiser is using campaign tracking through AdWords and tallies a "conversion".
There's hope that once MSN and Yahoo are more competitive in the publisher space that they will all start publishing their payout % as a form of competitive advantage to attract publishers....I'm waiting for that day, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's within the next 12 months (as Yahoo gets more fully ramped). |
