AdSense Positioning

I have a few AdSense sites that earn reasonable money.

The first task was to get all the content done and get the sites indexed. Thats now happened and I am now looking at maximisng the potential of these sites.

They are all based on the same template which puts the AdSense Ads on the right hand column. From what I have read this is probably the worst place to put them!

I am thinking of doing the following;

Removing the border, making the colours firt with the content. Putting the larger rectangular ads in with the content at the beginning of each article in the content.

Also putting some text only content ads in at the middle of each article.

Does anyone have any ideas or stats on the best positioning. I have been looking at AdSense Gold for tracking the efficiency but I am very scepticle about all of these services. Does anyone have any experience with such programs?

Thanks

The best thing to do IMO is to test and keep records, test and keep records, test and keep records. I've torn my sites apart many times to put adsense in different locations. The format that works on site A might not have the same results on site B. How the ads and your content compete with one another is a very important part of this. If there was a single magic way then that formula would be adopted by many.

right, set up some channels, change different place to add code, test and try, and you will get the answer.
