Hi,
I've been using adsense for a year or so and been doing quite well with it. The last three months or so my clicks have been roughly the same as I always get, but the earnings per click has dropped from around .25 to around .04. Anyways, then to top it off google just stopped serving ads on one of my most profitable sites. No explanation. It still works on my other sites under the same adsense accounts, so who knows. In any event I'm looking to try some alternatives. So far I've found AdBrite and have signed up for Yahoo's Beta Ad thing. I'm just wondering if anyone has any information on AdBrite or Yahoo's system and if people could recommend good alternatives to adsense. Thanks. |

Hey there, i've been using AdBrite and my personal view is that it takes a while for your site to get adjusted to their ad serving. However, you need to be very specific in the target audience your website enjoys or you would be getting irrelevant ads on your site. Another alternative is Kontera.com which is a contextual adserving tool. The conversions are pretty high on this one. |

Hello, I'm from Kontera, we serve in-text ads that can be integrated to all sites provided they contain textual content. Our ads are contextually targeted and so they are made to maximize results for all our publishers. What is the topic of your site? Mika Kontera Optimization Team |

The site is http://www.ratemyeverything.net. It basically is as you'd expect from the url. Mostly people post pics of themselves/friends/etc. We also get a myriad of other types of posts, such as reviews of products, jokes, drawings, photography, art, funny pics, etc. We get around 700,000-1 million hits a month. Our site does contain adult content if the user turns off "safe-mode". That is an issue with adsense obviously, however we have in place custom ad-rotators, for rotating in/out adult or none adult ads depending on if the user has on safe mode or not and what the particular ad companies rules are. Anyways, due to the high amount of pictures and limited text on a lot of the posts, adsense never really earned us much as far as eCPM goes, so we are looking at other options. Currently we are trying out adbrite/avnads, which I'm told takes some time before it is very profitable. We've also applied to Yahoo's beta program, but no response thus far. Would my site be a good fit for Kontera? What kind of eCPM and CTR is typical on Kontera? |

Kontera Review

eCPM and CTR vary from site to site and so there is no way to draw a "typical" rate. I just finished reviewing your site- as part of our policy, we do not advertise on sites containing any adult content. Best of luck to you! YPN is another one if you are from the US. Some people earn more from YPN than Adsense, but then some earn less.

Mika,
I went to your site and read the "rules/requirments" there was no mention of gambling or poker sites being against the rules. thus i assume they are ok? Along with that how many advertisers do you have in the poker realm? also i saw this : "ContentLink Ad Tag Modification The ContentLink tag should be placed right before the closing and tags, and should not be placed within a DIV or an IFRAME. " frankly most of my sites have DIV tags all over the place as a means of positioning them on the page... can you clarify what yall are getting at ? thanks. |

Kontera tag has to be put above the closing body and not within a Div. Meaning Div tag has to end above where you place your Kontera Tag- do not place it between two Divs. Gambling and poker sites are prohibited from our ad network. This requirement can be found in our terms and conditions. Best of Luck, Mika Kontera Optimization Team |

Hi Lucio, I have been trying to send pm but somehow this option is blocked and I'm still waiting for Moderator's response. (If there's anyone here who can help, I'd be more than happy for any info) Regarding your site, Our ads are in-text and work best on sites that have much textual content. Your site doesn't contain enough text and so I think another ad solution would be more suitable. For more info, email support@kontera.com Thanks, Mika Kontera Optimization Team |
