Adsense CPM

I have seen a decline in the revenues in adsense in terms of CPM. My traffic remains the same and slowly improving only.

Is there anyone else who see such declines? Or is it just an isolated thing I am seeing?

My income will yo-yo up and down. Think about it... new bidders enter the auctions all of the time old bidders drop out... people increase and decrease their bids. One aggressive bidder can push the bidding way up and then pull out to focus on some other product or strategy.

If you income is derived from a small number of sites or sites concentrated around a single biz area then one new bidder or a retreat can really change your earnings.

It also has to do with how aggressive they are with their offers - giving away free stuff to create buzz or posting a price in their ads to ward of surfers.

Makes sense. Was just trying to figure out if there is a pattern across businesses with respect to some specific times. I mean will the sales & advertising drop during december, march etc.,

Thanks anyway.

I totally agree with Egol, but you are correnct in assuming that Adsense performance can be affected by the calendar. Many experience increases/decreases in end of quarter or end of year, it is thought, due to advertising budgets being either depleted or releived prior to new budgets being approved. Some areas (e.g. Christmas gifts) experience their best Adsense performance at year end while others do better during the school year. Bottomline, it is dependent upon the theme or business category of the page(s) carrying the Adsense.
