Question AdBrite vs. AdWords - interesting reading

Howdie all.

Don't you ever wish you had been in that garage with Bill Gates when he was first tinkering with his computer plans....

I've been reading a lot of info about online marketing. The two major contenders appear to be Google AdWords and AdBrite. I researched Adbrite - VERY interesting reading!

I jumped on board with them and was wondering if anyone else has been a member and has comments, etc?

Thanks!

Mike

I've had no luck w/ AdBrite... cool concept but unless you have a very high traffic website it's a waste - nobody will bid to advetise on your website.

Exclamation

AdBrite is still relatively new - and consider that the guy who created did so because he sold his previous website for millions of dollars so I tend to believe he has the potential to be a real player. Read about his background. G is placing so much emphasis on their Adwords campain and with rumors of checks bouncing, etc. I sincerely believe that in time there will be others look for an alternative. I just wanted to jump on board early and then let the rewards come in when it catches on. Imagine if you'd invested $200 in Microsoft when it first started out in Bill Gates garage......

My 2cents. Look at my site stats - it didn't take much to get high ranking which is what the advertisers want to see. I honestly believe this is a diamond in the rough...

I think the two things that really help AdBrite are
- they have a colorful founder
- the VC that funded them also funded Google

Google could probably add in a bunch of the AdBrite features into the AdWords system, but probably want to keep the system as simple as possible.

But on another front Google wants the market to dictate the value of ads instead of letting publishers throw out numbers that are far above or below their value. AdWords and AdSense works so great because they eleminate market inefficiencies.

I would also look to see what comes of John Battelle's Federated Media. He is one of the guys who knows and feels the web, and as I understand it he wants to create a decentralized network of premium sites to advertise on to create a company called Federated Media. John was recently funded by angle investors.
