Ad Sense Revenue Sharing

How does everybody feel about Google Ad Sense Revenue Sharing? After a poster has posted a minum number of posts, his/her threads will show ads for his/her client ID. This is supposed to drive up content but makes moderating more neccesary.

I don't have time to skim through a ton of two-bit posts put up by people who are trying to make 50 cents in adsense money that rightly belongs to the owner of the site.

I'm with EGOL; users posting for that sole purpose will be rail-roaded right out of dodge...er...SEOchat.

I think that revenue sharing could lead to fradulent clicks... people trying to make money while on a third party site... I would never put myself in a situation where somebody else could influence my status with the adsense program.

I agree, and for the same reason I never signed up to become a part of it even though I'm active in the forum that first offered this (http://forums.digitalpoint.com)

I'm not sure if I get your meaning. Are you saying, sites that want to share the revenue with the contributors are wrong?

There are no right or wrong ways of running a forum... the owners can do as they please because it is their property. If the owners decide to share revenue or grant signature links it will attract people and postings of different motivations.

Giving a portion of revenue to posters who start new threads will lead to lots of new threads being started for trivial topics - motivated simply by the desires of a few people who simply want to make a couple of cents from adsense clicks. This is a waste of time for everyone... a waste of time for experienced folks who would like to share their experience with those who have questions... and a waste of time for those who start such threads. It would be more profitable for experience folks to spend that time working on their sites and for those who have questions to read some tutorials or search google for answers. The value of the forum is traded for sig links and adsense clicks of a few moochers.

There are lots of different philosophies for running a forum. In my opinion the quality of participation will be the highest when things like adsense revenue sharing and signature links are left out. Then posts will be motivated mainly by a desire for cooperative sharing and learning. If I ever start a forum, that is probably how it will be - I don't want to waste my time or the time of others.

If you start a forum you can run it any way that you want... and SEOchat can decide how to run this one. Whatever policies you choose will determine who participates and what value is returned.

Some might argue that threads get too long as it is and that their topic switches from what it originally was. This multiple lesser threads doesn't have to be seen as bad. Also a well moderated site can weed out bad posts.

I'm just playing devil's advocate, not attacking anybody here.

If anybody is interested, ThinkBling has just created a phpBB Adsense Mod. It is still in very Alpha testing but is available for the curious.
